Our founder, Ev Stineman, was a passionate beagler and a friend to the sport. He ran dogs for decades and operated a successful business that supplied equipment for beagling plus ribbons and trophies for the trials. He saw a need for insurance as early as the 1940s, when he started Stineman Insurance and offered mortality insurance for dogs. He began the National Beagle Association in 1959. His vision was to secure the future of the sport by obtaining adequate liability insurance for beagle clubs. When Mr. Stineman died in 1988, the Stineman family continued to run the Association. Mark Schroeder, Mr. Stineman's grandson, took over day-to-day operations in 2003 and moved the headquarters from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to High Point, North Carolina.
